The Home-Way To Make Pizza Hut Bread Sticks

Undoubtedly everyone has a nostalgic corner for Pizza Hut Breadsticks. This sole-comfort food brings back memories of high school gathering or those late nights where the breadsticks were the prevailing source of comfort as one whizzed through to reach their work deadline in their pajamas. With some help from your pantry and mere minutes from your schedule, it is now possible to enjoy now the same comfort at home.

The process involves two major steps; the Breadsticks’ dough and the Breadsticks’ toppings. Initially, for the pizza dough, it is necessary to have the following ingredients;

4 cups of flour (Nearly 470 grams)
1/4 cup of dry milk powder (Nearly 35 grams)
2 1/4 instant yeast (rapid-rise)
1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 table spoons of butter
315 ml of lukewarm water
2 tablespoons of olive oil

To get started with the dough.

Mix the dry ingredients, which are milk powder, yeast, sugar and salt in a bowl. Add the water and stir the ingredients well until all they are thoroughly mixed. (Note that you make the dough using your bare hands or the bread/dough machine).

Let the mixture rest for minutes and by then bubbles will be evident.

Gradually add the flour and knead the dough until it appears to be a slightly tacky ball. (If the ball appears to be sticky and is not firm, don’t hesitate to add more flour.) Once the dough is ready, roll it to fit the size of your pan. (Preferably a 9×13-inch pan) Ensure that thickness is consistent throughout and should not exceed 1/2 an inch. Uneven thickness may lead the dough to be raw in the middle. Grease the pan with melted butter and fit the roll into the pan. Tightly wrap the pan in plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm, draft free are for nearly 40 minutes.

As the dough is resting, it is time to prepare the next set of ingredients, the Breadstick toppings. For the toppings one will need the following items;

2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tablespoon of onion powder
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 tablespoon of dried oregano
1 tablespoon of dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix all these ingredients in a bowl and set them aside.

Coming back to the dough, once it has arisen and is nearly double its size, cut the dough into ten strips with the help of a pizza cutter. Brush the remaining butter on top of the dough to have crisp brown covering.

Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F and bake the strips for 10 to 15 minutes, until you notice the crisp brown.

As soon as the breadsticks are ready, brush the top extra virgin olive and sprinkle the seasoning prepared evenly. Let the sticks then cool for 10 minutes and then with the aid of a spatula, slide out the sticks and plate them.

Feel free to serve these easy on skills and cost effective breadsticks with a hot or mild dipping sauce and preserve the left overs in a zip-seal bag to munch on them at midnight. (Quick tip; Tostitos Medium Restaurant Style Salsa works wonder with these breadsticks) Happy eating!
